I'm not really buying into the narrative of Plasma $xpl as a payment blockchain.
1. Payment settlement doesn't care which chain you're on; it depends on the upstream (which "daddies" are using it).
2. The migration cost of payment channels and settlements is extremely high (subsidies might not even cover it).
3. Speed/transaction fees aren't that important: as long as the fees are lower than banks; speed just needs to be faster than banks.
But it can't be denied that the "daddies" are impressive - right now, they're dangling a tether and saying that all transactions using Plasma will get a 1% discount.
Additionally, the coin should be highly controlled, and the team knows how to play; they should have a firm grip on what goes on in exchanges.
